IP67 is an Ingress Protection rating per IEC 60529. 'IP' = Ingress Protection. '6' = completely dustproof (no ingress of dust). '7' = resistant to temporary water immersion (1m depth for up to 30 minutes).
Mil-Spec drop test is per Mil-Std-810 Method 516.8 Procedure IV: 26 drops from 1.22m (48 inches) onto plywood over concrete. The case must remain functional and protect contents. We also test from 1.5m and 2.0m for extra-heavy-duty cases.
They test different things. IP67 tests water/dust resistance. Mil-Spec tests drop impact. A case can pass IP67 but fail drop test, or vice versa. Our cases are designed to pass both: IP67 + Mil-Std-810 drop test.
Yes. Our premium cases pass both: 26 drops from 1.22m (Mil-Std-810) and 30-minute immersion at 1m (IP67). We also test IP68 (5m continuous) and higher drop heights (1.5m, 2.0m) for selected cases.
IPx7 means the case can be submerged in 1m of water for 30 minutes without water ingress. It does NOT mean the case can be used for diving, swimming, or extended submersion. For those applications, IPx8 (5m+) is required.
Yes, if designed correctly. Our cases undergo drop testing before water testing to ensure the drop doesn't compromise the seal. We test: drop test → water immersion test → repeat. Cases must pass both consistently.
All our premium cases (PC and high-grade ABS) are tested to both IP67 and Mil-Std-810 drop. Selected heavy-duty cases (steel-frame, Mil-Spec) are tested to IP68 + Mil-Std-810 + Mil-Std-461 (EMC).
Test setup: case is loaded with foam + dummy payload (matched to rated capacity). Case is dropped in 26 different orientations (each face, edge, corner) from 1.22m onto 50mm plywood over concrete. Case is then inspected for damage and contents are checked.
Failed cases are returned to engineering for design review. Common fixes: thicker shell walls, rib reinforcement, corner protectors, latch upgrades. Redesigned cases are re-tested until passing. We do not ship cases that fail drop testing.
Yes. We provide test reports for all premium cases: IP67, IP68, Mil-Std-810 drop, vibration, temperature, salt spray, and UV. Reports include photos, measurements, and certification signatures. Available on request with NDA.
